Numerous analysts and commentators have misinterpreted US President Donald Trump’s quasi-ultimatum requiring that NATO countries – that is, Europe – cease importing Russian oil and Natural gas before Washington to intensifies sanctions on Moscow. Let’s take two examples of commentary from two very different parts of the Western political spectrum on matters related to Russia, Europe, Ukraine, and the NATO-Russia Ukrainian War.
The US government’s Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFERL) claims Trump’s „idea is to hit the Russian economy by cutting off one of its key exports, forcing the Kremlin into substantial negotiations on ending the full-scale war it launched against Ukraine in 2022“ https://www.rferl.org/a/nato-russia-oil-trump-demands-ukraine-war/33531073.html). Only the second half of this assertion is true; Trump does hope to get Russia to end the war. ……
