Since the breaking of the infamous Mindichgate scandal, involving top Ukrainian government officials and leading to the resignation of Ukrainian President Volodomyr Zelenskiy’s Presidential Office (PO) head Andriy Yermak among others, Zelenskiy has taken aggressive steps to shore up his rule, in particular, by initiating a purge of the Ukrainian hybrid oligarchic-neofascist Maidan regime’s top ranks. In removing Yermak and others Zelenskiy is not fighting corruption by purging, he is trying to preserve his power. Yermak’s demise and the removal from office of others last month after the Mindichgate investigations (the head of the Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov, Energy Minister Gennadii Galushenko and others) were but the first stage of a purge of undertaken in an effort to remove all potential challengers to Zelenskiy’s rule, except he has not succeeded entirely. Zelenskiy’s new, more capable hatchet man is the CIA-bred head of Ukraine’s military intelligence, HRU chief Kyryll Budanov. Although Budanov can be Zelenskiy’s new enforcer to some extent and for there time being, he is also one who poses a threat to Zelenskiy’s power and can use his new post to enhance his authority and power. ……….
